Short-Row Felted Slipper Insoles
I’m still really happy with my first Short-Row Felted
slipper pattern. The only problem is, the soft, lofty
Bernat Felting Natural Wool I used isn’t very durable. I
walked right through my first pair that first winter! So,
I made these insoles to pad the inside, and let me
wear the slippers longer. If you like, you can sew them
into the inside of the slipper, or you can just tuck
them in and let them stay.
Yarn: Bernat Felting Natural Wool, 75 grams or 2.6
oz/ball (2 balls), or any Bulky (#5)
yarn, 100% wool that is not a superwash wool. That
yarn is held double throughout.
I made these samples with my own handspun, held
single, but I don’t know how much or how I made it,
since I’m still in the “Oh my gosh, I’m spinning!” stage
and have no real control over the result.
Before felting, my insoles were about 10” long and 3”
wide at the heel. After felting, they didn’t shrink very
much, but they were more lofty and solid.
