Shelter poncho
SHELTER is one multifunctional, warm, fringed cowl/poncho/wrap, with battoning. Simply adding the main motives achieves required size (circumference). My inspiration for this design is “Architecture without architects” – the fascinating world of shelters and buildings of natural materials (mud, wood, wicker, bamboo…), made on the whole planet, without formal plans, usually by the people who will live or work in them.
Dimensions of the sample:
- length (unstretched, lying flat) – 86cm/34” for circumference of shoulders over the chest up 111cm / ~43”;
- width (height) - 40cm / 16” (pattern) + 7cm / 2.8” (loops) = 47cm/18,8”;
- fringes – 35cm / 14”;
The basic (main) motive is relatively small (6cm/2,4”) and can be repeated by length and width as needed. It can be knit as a cowl in the shown size or as a poncho in several sizes (it’s given in the Pattern), with or without holes.
