Sequence Cowl #7
Special thanks to CLOSE KNIT FIBERS for providing their DK yarn for the sample.
This design is the seventh of a series—twelve cowls in sequence knitting for 2024. This month, we’re working a simple spiral in a {k5, p1, k1 twice, p1} sequence, worked over a multiple of 10 stitches plus 5. Adding 5 stitches to the multiple stacks the ribbed stitches on top of the knit stitches in a spiral that creates a lovely broken rib stitch pattern. Next month, we’ll do something different with the spiral, and in September we’ll work a flat rectangle and seam it in an interesting way to shape the cowl. Traditional instructions and a chart are included, as well as the sequence knitting instructions.
The sample measures 56 cm in circumference x 23.5 cm tall (22” x 9.25”); instructions are provided in the pattern to help you re-size the project to suit your needs.
This is an easy project. The techniques you will need to know, or learn, to complete the cowl are:
- cast on and bind off;
- knit and purl;
- working in the round.
