Selby Hat
For someone that lives in California, I spend a lot of time in Minneapolis. I used to travel there frequently for work, now I go as often as I can to visit friends, and I always like to stop at The Yarnery on Selby Avenue in St. Paul when I’m in town. It’s my favorite non-local yarn shop and a significant source of my yarn stash. On a recent trip I purchased two cones of Ito Shimo that grew up to be the Selby Hat.
The Selby Hat features alternating sections of yarns held single stranded and yarns held double for a marled effect. It starts with a short rolled edge and corrugated ribbing brim, then sections of marled stockinette separated by single color eyelet lace ridges. Select light fingering weight wool or wool blend yarns in medium to high contrast colors or experiment with speckles, gradients, or scrap yarn.

The corrugated ribbing brim is not as stretchy as a traditional rib, so please keep this in mind when selecting a size.
