Seedling is a cabled crew sock with a design reminiscent of new growth twisting and unfurling towards the warmth of springtime sun. Worked from the top down, it has a conventional heel flap and side-shaped toe, but any heel and/or toe style may be substituted.

Both written and charted instructions are provided with this pattern, and both highlight areas where stitches may be added to easily make Seedling larger.

Socks shown were made with Miss Babs Tarte Hand-Painted Fingering weight yarn in color Beachglass, using less than the 500 yards in one skein. To substitute another fingering weight yarn, plan for approximately 400 yards, a little more if made larger.

A cable needle is handy as are several stitch markers, to help keep the pattern sections separated.
