Japan did not participate in the Great Exhibition, despite the Royal Commission’s invitation and Europe’s fascination with the Orient. Visitors to the Exhibition would have loved the Samurai Cowl, in which bands of garter stitch alternate with lozenge motifs resembling the scales (kozane) of early samurai armor. Wear this versatile accessory as a cowl, a poncho, or even a hood.
