The cockleshell lace stitch that encircles the lower portion of Saila, is one of my favourite stitch patterns, just based on the single fact that I find it so visually pleasing! I originally found this stitch in a very worn, vintage knitting leaflet from the 1920s. Modified to be worked in the round, the stitch pattern does require a sufficient amount of your attention, but once you’re clear of it the knitting is smooth sailing! ~ Sachiko ♥

Finished Bust (approx): 77.5 (84, 90, 96.5, 103.5, 110, 116, 122.5, 129.5) cm/ 30½ (33, 35½, 38, 40¾, 43¼, 45¾, 48¼, 51) ins

Yarn: 3 (4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7) balls of Classic Elite Yarns Firefly in #7703 “Silver”, 75% viscose, 25% linen; 142 m/ 155 yds per 50 grams/ 1¾ ounces

Gauge: 22 sts and 28 rows = 10 cm/ 4 ins over Stockinette stitch with larger needle, blocked.

Note: The body of this top is worked from bottom hem upwards as one seamless piece, worked in rounds. When you reach the armholes, the Back and Front are divided and worked separately in rows. Lace pattern is written out round by round, no charts! Sorry.
