The Saharan Sweater V-neck is a simple sweater worked from the top down in stockinette stitch. The design has a slightly shorter fit, which can be adjusted to suit your preference, underarm shaping and short rows over the shoulders and sleeves to provide an excellent fit and drape. Additionally, the pattern allows two options of ribbing: a classic rib of k1, p1 or a double rib of k2, p2 at the neck, body and sleeves.

First the back is worked back and forth. Stitches are then picked up from the cast-on edge to form each shoulder, and short rows are used to achieve the perfect shoulder fit. The shoulders are joined at the front of the neck after shaping the V-neck; and the front and back are joined under the arms. The body is then knit in the round and finished in your chosen rib. Stitches are picked up along the armhole for the sleeves and short rows worked to provide further shaping, before working in the round in stockinette stitch with decreases to taper and finishing with your chosen rib. Finally, stitches are picked up and knitted in rib along the neck edge, then folded over and secured on the wrong side.
