Ruth and Ruthie
This bolero was designed as personal challenge to myself, and also because I had some yarn I loved and wanted to use. It came about via a discussion at Craftster, and I designed the shrug as I went along. It was my first garment and my first pattern. It was given to my Oma, along with a second version in a second yarn, pictured here. The instructions include two variations: a shrug and a bolero.
My Oma has since passed. She suffered from MS and was wheelchair bound, and she loved this jacket because it was snuggly and warm but since it was not styled like a traditional sweater, there was nothing to bunch up under her back in the wheelchair.
The pattern is also available at the Craftster forum.
