Royal Cowl & Mitts
A magical Tunisian technique produces a honeycomb pattern of royal purple and gold worked in the round for this cowl and fingerless mitts.
This cowl also converts to a hat by using the drawstring to cinch it up.
Finished Size: Cowl: 20 (21 1⁄4, 22 1⁄2)“ circumference and 8 1⁄2” long to fit women’s small (medium, large). Garment shown measures 21 1⁄4”. Mitts: 71⁄2 (8, 81⁄2)” circumference and 71⁄2” long to fit women’s small (medium, large). Garment shown measures 8”.
Yarn: Spud & Chloë Sweater (55% superwash wool, 45% organic cotton; 160 yd 146 m/3 1⁄2 oz 100 g; ): #7516 grape jelly (MC); #7515 cider (CC), 1 skein each for cowl; 1 skein each for mitts. Yarn distributed by Blue Sky Alpacas.
Yarn Weight: #4 - Medium
Hook: Size H/8 (5 mm) double-ended hook. Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
Notions: St marker (m); yarn needle.
Gauge: 13 sts and 12 rows = 4” in honeycomb patt
Designer Note: You will only need 1/2 hank of each color to make this cowl/hat, you can use the other 1/2 hank to make the matching mitts. They require about 130-150 yrs. total. :-)
Pattern includes both cowl and mitts.
