Rolling Rock
Rolling Rock is a light Henley-style pullover, seamlessly knit from the top down, using the contiguous shaping method at the shoulders. This shaping method provides the look of shoulder seams and sleeve caps, without the actual seaming.
I wanted to play with the idea of the lace sweater in a way that hadn’t been done before, so the panel on back has an interesting shape that keeps it separate from any shaping elements (as always, making it easy for you to modify this for your body). The bottle motif is simple and geometric and textured. Plus, it’s called bottle lace, so it was the perfect match.
The collar is a variation on a Henley, shaped to begin lower on the body and to remain open in a V above the buttons.
A classic shape, a flattering neckline, and some eye catching detail on the back make for a versatile knit that’s fun to work up.
Rolling Rock is knit in The Plucky Knitter’s Traveler sport, which is a gorgeous silk and wool mix – in a deep green like that familiar glass bottle from Latrobe, PA.
Below is required yarn quantity per size:
Sizes: 32.25 (34.25, 36.5, 39.5, 42.75)(44.25, 46.5, 48.75, 52.25, 54.5)”
Yds: 1000 (1100, 1200, 1300, 1400) (1500, 1600, 1700, 1800, 1900)
I suggest knitting the size that gives you 2-3” of positive ease, based on your bust. Worn with 2.5” of ease in the photos here. I also suggest you do a lace swatch along with the stockinette swatch.
