The Rodeo Star Pillow is a stranded knitting design for a zippered pillow to be circularly knit in Aran-weight Shetland wool yarn. The main, charted section uses three colors per round. The designer’s free video, “Knitting with Three Colors and Catching Long Floats” , explains the tangle-free technique used.

Recommended for knitters familiar with common, Fair Isle-style knitting and interested in adding a new dimension to their color work.

Yarn:
Jamieson’s of Shetland “Shetland Heather” 100% Shetland wool Aran weight yarn, 101 yds / 92 m per 50g ball.

Three 50g balls of A = Ivory #343
Three 50g balls of B = Shetland Black #101
Three 50g balls of C = Chianti #200
One 50g ball of D = Duck Egg #1000

Yarn packs are available through the designer’s website here.

Needle suggestions:
You will need both a Main needle and a Trim needle.

Looser knitters: US #7 / 4.5 mm for the Main needle; US #6 / 4.0 mm for the Trim needle.

Tighter knitters: US #8 / 5.0 mm for the Main needle; US #7 / 4.5 mm for the Trim needle.

Use one 32” / 80 cm long circular needle, or a longer circular needle with
the “Magic Loop” technique, or multiple needles per round – whatever you like best!
Use whatever size Main needle gets you the above gauge! Your Trim needle should be one size smaller than your Main needle.
