Rikke Cardigan No 1

Rikke Cardigan No 1 is the sixth design in the Rikke series and is a classic and feminine cardigan with a beautiful V-neckline and simple, double-knitted edges to create a refined and exclusive expression. The cardigan is knitted with two strands of yarn – one strand of merino wool (Önling No 2 or Önling No 4) and one strand of silk mohair (Önling No 10) – which together create a soft, beautiful and luxurious texture.

The fit is oversized with 15–25 cm / 6–10 inches positive ease, providing a relaxed yet elegant silhouette.

Rikke Cardigan No 1 continues the simple and timeless aesthetic that characterizes the Rikke-series which you can find here.

Designed by Rikke Jönsson. Pattern by Katrine Hannibal for Önling.

Procedure

The cardigan is worked back and forth, top-down. Stitches are cast on at the neckline using a regular cast-on, the rib pattern is established, and continues working back and forth across the neck and sleeves. Increases are worked for a decorative band along the front edges, then for the V-neck. At the same time, raglan increases are worked across the entire yoke. The body and sleeves are then finished separately and completed with double knitted edges. Stitches are picked up and knitted along the front edges and around the neckline, where a double-knitted button band with buttonholes is worked.
