Rhosyn
People’s fascination with roses goes back to antiquity and over the ages this interest resulted in thousands of unique cultivars in an amazing variety of colors and scents. I love them all, but my favorites have always been the fragrant tea roses with hints of orange in their large pink blossoms. These gorgeous hues of tea rose petals were the inspiration for this design and this pink color story.
Rhosyn is my classic short row crescent shawl, worked from the top in one piece. The easy garter stitch short rows, which shape the shawl into an elegant crescent, are worked first, followed by the deep dramatic lace border with the bind off creating the intricate edge.
The lace flows seamlessly from the top down to the edge incorporating many traditional motifs shaped like leaves and petals. For extra texture and pretty sparkle, all of the Rhosyn charts include beads evocative of rain drops glistening on delicate rose petals (approx. 925 6/0 4.00mm seed beads, optional).
Rhosyn was originally published in July 2018 as an exclusive part of the yarnQuest kit #4.
