A delicate but quick to work crescent shaped shawl that´s perfect for layering as the nights are still cool. Starting at the centre top, using simple knit and purl stitches. Cables emerge from the stocking stitch background and create a 3-dimensional pattern with a beautiful texture and drape that is casual enough for everyday wear.

RED CONTEMPLATION is a generous fingering-weight shawl with harmonic flow and a sophisticated crescent shape. Yardage requirements are two skeins of a semi-solid fingering-weight yarn.

Its symmetrical shape is achieved by working simple increases at the beginning and end of each row and inside the pattern too. Pattern starts with a section of stockinette stitches, followed by a contemplative cable section. The bottom edge is made of knit and purl stitches which create lovely pleats. If desired, wash and lay flat to dry, fixing the shape of the point with blocking pins. Stretch out top edge to create a shallower shawl than a half circle.
