This easy crochet pattern designed for worsted weight yarn is inspired by the beauty of the wall of rainbow churro wool yarn on display at Tierra Wools yarn shop in Chama, New Mexico, USA. Here’s the introduction video: https://youtu.be/6LG4yR5lqig

It is also an homage to the iconic stripes of the Rio Grande Weaving style the weaving school at Tierra Wools is known for. See the end of the pattern for a story about my first road trip to Tierra Wools and their contact information.

This throw blanket is an excellent first project for people of all ages learning to crochet, or a quick, relaxing project for more experienced stitchers.

The pattern uses only two simple stitches: chain stitch and double crochet stitch in US terms.

A row of chain stiches creates the foundation for the rest of the rows, which are all double crochet stitches worked between the stitches of the previous row.

Gauge: 11 sts and 9 rows = 4” 10 cm

Yarn: Worsted weight, 1,750 yards 1,596 m total in any number of colors you like
