Pudgy Elephant
Pudgy Elephant is the first in my Pudgy line of amigurumi designs. There’s just a little bit more of them to love.
They are worked bottom up and are mostly join as you go.
MATERIALS
- Worsted weight yarn (medium 4)
- I used 43.5 g (1.53 oz) of Loops & Threads, Impeccable for each elephant. I used Soft Rose for the little girl elephant, and True Grey for the boy.
- I used about 3 g (0.11 oz) of Loop & Threads, Impeccable in white for the toes
- 3.75mm hook
- Fiberfill
- 12mm safety eyes in black (Not for children under 3. If you are making this for a smaller child please embroider or needle felt the eyes)
- Doll making needle (or whatever needle you like to hide your ends and sew your parts together)
- Optional: Printed felt or alternative material to line the inside of the ears
- Optional: Fabric Fuse Peel n Stick to secure the lining, or you may sew it in place
GAUGE
Gauge is not important for this pattern. Just make sure it’s tight so your fiberfill doesn’t show through your stitches. If you are a loose hooker, you might want to go down an additional hook size to compensate for this.
MEASUREMENTS
Pudgy Elephant measures approximately 3 1/2” in height when made with recommended yarn and hook.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
Modified Puff Stitch, used to make the toes. It is a regular puff stitch without the slip stitch at the top. I chose to take this out in order to tidy up the color changes a bit, and to straighten up the angle of the toes.
(Yo, insert hook, yo, pull up loop) three times, yo, pull through all seven loops on the hook, go straight into the following sc st. There is a photo tutorial for the color changes in the “feet” section of the pattern.
