Recently I had a friend undergoing chemotherapy. I needed to knit him something. His hands and feet were/are always cold so we decided a sock would be a good choice. I have since knit another pair for a cancer survivor. If you have a similar story PM me and I’ll discount your pattern. :-) The title is an homage to my friend whose last name is Power.

Details: I didn’t have his foot readily available for measuring so I made sure there was plenty of ribbing for ease of fit and sizing. I wanted it to knit up quickly and be nice and cozy so I used a light worsted yarn knitted on a tight gauge. The foot of the sock is knit with the purl side out so the inside is smooth for the wearer. The sock is knit as a tube then the heel is knit last. That is the only finishing. Be sure to read all of the instructions for each section prior to starting.

Sizes: Womens, (Mens/Womens Wide, Mens Wide)
As these socks are knit from the toe up it is very easy to adjust width and length. For your convenience, I include an abbreviated chart with approximate foot lengths to go with US shoe sizes. The entire chart can be found on the Zappos website.

Yarn: 1 Hank Studio June Andrea Mae DK shown in Coopery Brown. I used the entire hank for 1 pair of size 11 wide mens socks. There are a few yds left for future darning.

Needle: size 4/3.5mm DPNs and size 5/3.75mm DPNs or 1 long circular in each size. The gauge looks a little weird because it is measured with a non-standard gauge pattern. With the larger needles I knit 19 sts of 1x1 and 4 sts of 2x2 rib for 23 sts total. This gave me 3 inches unstretched. If you have any problems with it please let me know.
