Poulia
Poulia (the Greek word for our feathered friends) was designed to take advantage of all the varying hues in a beautifully multicolored yarn. The ribbed mesh stitch pattern showcases the colors by both breaking them up with openwork and creating depth with the ribs, while being simple enough not to compete. The result is a light, airy, textured piece that can be worn hanging long around the neck or wrapped once for a cozy cowl. Poulia takes just a single skein of pretty sport weight yarn and is easily tailored to fit your exact yardage.
Specific yarn requirements:
Mrs. Crosby Hat Box (75% Superwash Merino Wool, 15% Silk, 10% Cashmere; 317 yds/ 290 m per 100g); 1 skein in Northern Parula
Or, 317 yds/ 290 m of sport weight yarn
Needles:
US 7 (4.5 mm) straight or circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge
Gauge:
7.5 sts & 22 rows = 4”/ 10 cm in Ribbed Mesh pattern, blocked Meeting this exact gauge is not crucial, but any major differences will affect the size of the finished cowl and yarn requirements.
ERRATA:
3 October 2016 -- Page 3, Ribbed Mesh pattern instructions, Row 3, the pattern should repeat to the last 5 sts, not the last 6. This was updated in v2 of the pattern.
18 November 16 -- Page 2, the definition of ssk should direct the knitter to slip 2 sts separately as if to knit, not together. This was updated in v3 of the pattern.
