Posy Cardigan
Needles needed for this pattern:
24” Circular--US size 5
16” circular--US size 6
24” circular--US size 6
Detailed yarn information: The pattern calls for four different colors:
MC: 7 (7, 8, 10) balls
CC1: 1 (1, 2, 2) balls
CC2: 1 (1, 2, 2) balls
CC3: 1 (1, 2, 2) balls
Note: The yarn has been discontinued. Information for substitution is found here. However, the yardage listed on the yarn’s Ravelry page (110 yards/ball) is different than what is listed in the magazine (100 yards/ball). The yardage above reflects what is given in the magazine. You may wish to adjust your yarn amounts based on this discrepancy.
Additional gauge information: The Cable Rib pattern stitch has considerable ease; one rib measures about 1” (2.5 cm) closed and 1 1/4” (3.2 cm) stretched. Seven repeats of the 6-row pattern stitch = 5” (12.5 cm)
Additional materials:
- Split markers
- Waste yarn in contrasting color for provisional cast-on
- Large stitch holders
- Tapestry needle
- Seven 5/8” (1.5 cm) buttons
Designer’s description from magazine: The pattern stitch used for this cardigan reminds me of little posies. The stitches hold in the ribs so the sweater appears to fit snugly, yet provides plenty of ease. It also forms a nice scallop at the lower edge of the body and sleeves. Because I prefer the look of the pattern upside, down, the cardigan is knit from the top down. The short sleeves are picked up around the armhole and shaped with short rows so that they hang straight. The gussets at the underarms give a great fit and eliminate bulk.
