Walker’s square-shaped dropped-shoulder template beckoned me to design a sweater with rich texture and color. I chose Louet’s glorious Gems yarn in teal and the intricate Porcupine stitch (from Walker’s Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns), finding that the raised shapes do indeed resemble the prickly creature’s silhouette. The scalloped edges I achieved at the neckline were an unexpected and added bonus of working the sweater from the top-down, and the slightly see-through nature of this stitch pattern offers creative layering opportunities.
