I have spent a lot of time in Milan. It’s an exciting, vibrant city, full of galleries and beautiful shops. On an old winding street called Via Santa Marta is Trattoria Milanese, a favorite restaurant where, in June, you can watch guys taking cherries off of branches for your dessert while they listen to the World Cup on the radio. Via Santa Marta also houses a tiny clothing shop full of handmade garments and accessories made with intriguing combinations of knitting, crochet, and sewing. When I happened upon the delicately
colored soft wool used in this project, all of those memories from Milan came together. The result was this hat with sewn pleats and cherry-colored dashes.
