Picea mittens use a bold graphic design with a contemporary look. Worked in worsted weight wool, they knit up quickly and can be made in any combination of two contrasting colors.

There are two sets of charts included, one each with the light or the dark as the dominant color.

The design includes a gusset thumb, situated on the palm side for an excellent fit, and corrugated ribbing which complements the hand pattern.

SIZES: The medium size fits women and teens with average size hands, and men with small hands. The large size works well for men with larger hands.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: The medium size is 7.4 inches in circumference and 9.5 inches long. The large size is 8.3 inches in circumference and 10.25 inches long. Changing the yarn, gauge, or needle size will affect the size of the completed project and may require extra yarn.

GAUGE: 26 sts and 28 rnds = 4 inches/10 cm

NEEDLES: Choose your needle type based on your preferred method of working small circumferences in the round—use either a set of double-pointed needles, 2 circular needles or a long circular needle (if using the magic loop method). Recommended needle size-US 5 (3.75mm) and another needle 2 sizes larger for casting on.

YARN: Recommend yarn is Berroco Ultra Alpaca. The medium size uses approximately 110 yards of a dark color and 85 yards of light. The larger size uses approximately 130 yards of the dark color and 100 yards of light.

SKILLS USED: working in the round, decreases (k2tog, ssk), increases (M1) using a chart, 2-color colorwork
