Picea cap is a bold graphic design with a contemporary look. Worked in worsted weight wool, it knits up quickly and can be made in any combination of contrasting colors. Make just the cap, or pair it with Picea Mittens for a coordinating set

Any worsted weight yarn would work well for this pattern, and it can just as easily be done with two colors as well as the three called for. The cap is long enough to be worn pulled down for blustery days, or off the face with a bit of slouch in the back.

SIZES: One average adult size.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS: 20-inch circumference, 9 inches in length. Will fit heads measuring 20-22 inches in circumference. Changing the yarn, gauge, or needle size will affect the size of the completed project and may require extra yarn.

GAUGE: 19 sts and 24 rnds = 4 inches/10 cm

NEEDLES: Choose your needle type based on your preferred method of working small circumferences in the round—use either a 16-inch circular needle or a 32-inch circular needle (if using the magic loop method). Recommended needle size-US 8 (5.0mm)

YARN: Recommend yarn is Quince Lark, but other worsted weight wool will work as well. The cap uses approximately 100 yards of a dark color and 125 yards of light. The sample was made using 2 coordinating lighter shades. Note: if adding a pompom, extra yarn will be required.

SKILLS USED: working in the round, decreases (k2tog, ssk), using a chart, 2-color colorwork
