This pattern is easy to follow but requires basic crochet knowledge.

This pattern is written in English.
It is written in US terms but easy to convert to UK.

It is worked in African Flower shapes with instructions on how to make the motifs plus picture and written instructions to follow for assembly.

Materials

All weights are approximate and will vary depending on the brand of yarn you choose and how tightly you crochet.

I used Stylecraft special dk for this pattern.
You can of course use any brand of double-knit/light/ 3 weight
This pattern would also work using aran/worsted/4 weight yarn but would be much bigger.

White- face - 20g
Grey - head, body and wings - 120g
Graphite - head, body and wings - 80g
Yellow- feet and beak - 10g
Safety eyes 24mm-
Toy stuffing.

Hooks required
2.5 mm

Size
By using this yarn and hook sizes your finished Penguin will be roughly
38 cm/15 inches in height
25 cm/10 inches in width.

Useful items
Stitch markers
Stitch counter
Darning needle

This pattern uses US terms,
Ch = chain stitch
Sc = single crochet
Hdc = half double crochet
Dc = double crochet
Tr = treble crochet
Inc= single crochet increase
Dec = single crochet decrease
FLO = Front loop only
BLO = Back loop only

If you are planning to make your Penguin in a heavier weight yarn, adjust your hook size accordingly. Use the smallest hook size possible for the weight of yarn that you are using. You need the stitches tight so the stuffing doesn’t show too much between stitches.

I recommend making a test motif to gauge tension.
