Tunisian crochet in the round is a natural for fingerless mitts. Worked in two colors, one tonal and one variegated, an effect of tiny colorful pavers laid in even rows is created. A perfect project for using up leftover sock yarn!
Tunisian crochet in the round requires a double ended hook. Length of hook isn’t critical. Pattern includes useful links to techniques needed to complete mitts including Tunisian crochet techniques and crab stitch or reverse single crochet.
A series of tutorial videos by the designer are in the works - the first one which takes you through the cast on, working in the round, and increases can be found HERE.
The second video shows you how to complete the hand - but note that the sample in the video works the crab stitch in every stitch, not 2 out of 3 as in the pattern.
And the third video shows you how to pick up for a thumb. Sorry about the picture and sound quality - I’m still learning my camera skills. The info should still be useful.
