Patchwork Baby Kitty Throw Blanket
What is more adorable than kittens! Crochet this unique Folk Art throw blanket and show your love of the kitties! The beautiful quilt look design is the result of individual squares worked in various colors and joined to resemble a cat. The squares are made first then stitched together. The features are crocheted separately then stitched on. The bell is 3D and has a jingle bell in it. The edging is completed last.
Please note, this is a crochet pattern, not a finished blanket.
Stash busting pattern! This pattern is a great to use up lots of single or partial skeins.
Pattern is written for Vanna’s Choice yarn but any worsted or aran weight yarn will work. Great stash buster as most colors use two skeins. Get creative, mix and match your leftover yarn and turn it into something beautiful. Important, do not mix wool with cottons or acrylics as they won’t wash the same.
Intermediate skill level. Must be able to change color mid-row. The pattern requires unique color changes which are clearly explained. In addition, a link to a video illustrating the color changes is provided.
YARN: Lion Brand, Vanna’s Choice, 100% acrylic, medium 4, 3.5oz/100g 170yd/156m or
3oz/85g 145yd/133m per skein, or equivalent.
Note: Yarn amounts may vary for different yarns. Please add, at a minimum, 10% yarn allowance.
Mix it up and bust out your stash! Make your kitty in shades of white and cream, variations of orange or even shades pink! Does your kitty have blue, green or yellow eyes? What about his or her collar? Use up your scraps and make it rainbow! The yarn amounts provided are guidelines. Maybe you have 7 shades of purple in your stash that you want to use for the background. Group similar shades together and substitute them for one of the colors in the pattern. For example, if you have two similar shades of Lilac, both could be combined and used for your BL (Background Light) squares. Get creative and have fun with it.
