In a city famous for its foggy weather, a cowl is a great way to keep out the chill. The stitch patterns on Painted Lady mimic the shiplap, shingles, and decorative elements of San Francisco’s famous Victorians, all in a beautiful tricolor palette. The Painted Ladies of Alamo Square are distinguished by being painted three or more colors to enhance their Victorian era embellishments. You may recognize them from The Invasion of the Body Snatchers, The Five Year Engagement, Full House/Fuller House, or a postcard—they are a classic image of the city. Did you know that Alice Walker, author of The Color Purple, lived in one and used to host small Tracy Chapman concerts in her home? The Conversation and Mrs. Doubtfire were set and filmed nearby, too. Be sure to visit Alamo Square and see the Painted Ladies for yourself.
Twirl’s Ditto enhances the coziness quotient of this cowl by combining multiple wools, alpaca, and mohair—those fibers bring an airy warmth to this cowl, and the color options are gorgeous.
