Jon’s dyeing is so beautiful that I wanted to keep things simple and let the yarn shine. The neutral tones reflect the gleaming highlights in the photos of roasted vegetables I sent Jon for inspiration so I liked the idea of using them to pick out a pattern against the vibrant gradient. The pattern is worked in the round for easy stranded colourwork and a knotted steeking technique is exposed rather than tucked away to create fringed ends. Between each round the yarn is wrapped multiple times around the needle to create a really wide ladder of yarn that’s cut open at the end. There are a lot of knots to tie, but not a single end to weave in. The stole is worked sideways with the long cast-on and bind-off edges worked in a garter rib pattern that lines up perfectly with the geometric colourwork.
