Northern Lights DK Blanket
Lucy only once experienced the glorious phenomenon of the aurora borealis but have seen many photographs. This is her homage to their undulating colours and rippling effects which the ombré yarns from Knit Circus allow us to approach.
Long-gradation yarns allow us wonderful colour variety but only requires two balls of yarn at any time. This center-out DK method allows some leeway to accommodate various yarn weights and gauges.

SIZE: 60” across. However, swatch and use your row gauge to determine the size of your blanket.
GAUGE: Aim for a nice, soft fabric that gives sufficient coverage of the colour behind. It is possible that, after the first few rounds, you may decide to adjust the needle size by an increment (usually upwards) without any need to rework the beginning.
The measurements and quantities given are based on an approximate gauge of 6 stitch pairs x 9 rows per inch, measured over double-layer Stocking stitch fabric (using 3.25 mm/ US #3).
YARN: For a blanket approximately 60” across, allow about 750 g, 3000 m / 3300 yds of fingering weight wool-rich yarn in both Main and Contrast yarns.
