Learn how to do garter stitch in the round - WITHOUT purling! Also learn the German Twist cast-on which is great for those times you want a stretchy starting edge for your work. The cast-on will allow the bottom of the cowl to be stretchy enough to pull over your shoulders for those times you are super chilly.
