Errata: In the original pdf, the Third Chart in rows 8-14 had a typo in the form of a “no stitch” which should be obvious while you are knitting it. The new version is now available, and was also sent out 3/21/16 with the corrected chart.
Cowls are fun to knit projects, but their simple tube shapes always leave me with a triangle of uncovered chest even when my coat is buttoned all the way up. I designed this top-down fair isle cowl with a tailored flare so that this cowl would not only snuggle up over my
nose, but cover the span between my coat lapels. Originally designed to use a skein I made in a workshop with Shetland Artist Niela Nell, these bright dots of color work will also be a perfect use for gradient
yarn sets or sock left overs. Keep each row or pair of rows of dots to a single color, or play freely with when you change the contrast color, or switch out the main color instead. Above all, have fun with it!
