This chart can be used to embellish any plain knitwear: use it for textured knitting, for fairisle, intarsia, or duplicate stitching. Any yarn and gauge suitable for colourwork will be fine with this chart.

I designed this chart for use on the Milo vest, by Georgie Hallam – a great and versatile modern vest for babies, toddlers and children that has had many many interpretations. Check out some of the thousands of projects on the pattern page.

Just to be clear, the charts are for the notes around the body of the vest. The embroidery around the neckline was done with chain-stitch, on the 5 knitted lines of the stave. The music is Tye’s Laudate Nomen Domini (at least, the first half of the soprano line), which is the anthem for the Australian Intervarsity Choral Societies.

4Nov13: Often on patterns I find the caveat that knitters may not sell items made with the pattern. After a lot of thought and research I have decided that I don’t agree with this statement. I don’t believe that the designer has any rights over the finished product, so, if you’re handknitting and you want to sell items made from my patterns - Best of Luck, and Go For It! I think handknitting for a living must be quite a challenge, so you need all the luck I can give you. Of course, my rights DO cover the patterns themselves, so you mustn’t copy or distribute them.
