For texture and style, homespun-style tweed yarn and cables are a perfect combination. The stitch definition of the cables and the textural knit 2, purl 2 ribbing is superb. Lots of buttons keep the bands from gapping open.

This cardigan, with its three simple cable panels on the back and one panel each on all the other pieces, is a snap to knit. Once you have the back, fronts, and sleeves assembled, make the knit 2, purl 2, ribbing collar and bands. Then sew on the buttons, and you’re done.

Patterns for sizes: 34, 38, 42, 46, and 50”
