Yarn: Cotton crochet thread or perle cotton in sizes 5 to 10 for motifs, size 10 for netting, in your choice of colors. Fingering weight or sock yarn in merino wool or cotton can also be used. For the tank top shown, estimate total yardage of 800 to 1500 yards in various colors, depending on the desired size and number of motifs. Yarns and threads used in class include Malabrigo Sock, Madelinetosh Tosh Merino Light, and crochet threads Nazli Gelin Garde 10. Valdani Pearl Cotton and Presencia Perle Cotton also work well for this technique.

Hooks: Sizes 1 mm to 1.75 mm steel crochet hooks for use with threads; Sizes B (2.25 mm) to F (3.75 mm) crochet hooks, preferably metal, for fingering weight/sock yarns.
