I love mitred squares blanket with all the variety of colours and possible combinations of the patterns. I couldn’t find a crochet version, so I wrote one and here it is! I love the way the same colour looks different paired with different colours.

My pattern uses chain and double (UK = treble) crochet stitches only with granny square corners, and is therefore suitable for a beginner and makes up quite quickly. The pieces are sewn together into blocks and then into the whole blanket which is then edged.

Each block of 4 squares measures approx 33cm so the pattern can be adapted to make a single bedspread, a throw or a baby blanket.

The individual squares can be arranged in many different ways to obtain different effects.
