Mini Christmas Sweaters - 009
A mini Christmas sweater is decorated in four ways - snowman, Santa, fairy and tree.
The sweater is worked in two pieces, with cuffs and collars picked up and knitted on.
Santa has a garter stitch beard, snowman has a garter stitch scarf, fairy has garter stitch wings, and tree is decorated with a star and beads.
Finished Sizes
height - 9cm (3 1/2in), cuff to cuff - 12cm (4 1/2in)
Stitches Used
Cast on and off, stocking stitch, garter stitch (knit every row), increasing - knit into front and back of stitch (diagram), decreasing - k2tog (diagram), picking up stitches.
Yarn
Any Double Knitting (DK) weight yarn.
I used wool DK for the red, dark green and pink. You also need one white and one dark green brushed or mohair-type yarn (around DK-weight or thicker), a white bobble or snow effect DK yarn (I used Sirdar Snuggly Bubbly), and a white sparkly yarn (I used Sirdar Pearls DK). Plain DK could be used instead of these three textures.
Yarn Amounts - these mini sweaters use small amounts of each yarn; all four could easily be made from one ball of each of red, white, and dark green, together with a small oddment of pink (if you don’t use the fancy texture yarns).
Other Materials
Snowman - three small black buttons or beads, Tree - gold star and beads.
Needles
1 pair of 3.25mm (US size 3) needles.
Tension
24 sts and 32 rows to 10cm (4in) measured over stocking stitch.
