Mingo Slouch
Look at that squashy, poofy stitch pattern! This hat is so perfect for crazy variegated yarn; the more colors, the better! Go nuts.
The pattern is worked from the crown down. If you want an extra slouchy hat, you can add extra repeats of the poofs pattern. If you have a limited quantity of yarn, work the knitted ribbing. If you don’t know how to knit, don’t worry! There is an option for a crocheted ribbing at the base of the hat, but it does use a larger quantity of yarn and you must know how to work a front-post double crochet.
Yarn: 145 - 180 yards/135 - 165 meters of Aran or light bulky weight yarn with at least 50% natural fiber content. The difference in yardage reflects the 2 finishing options - knit ribbing (uses less yarn) or crocheted ribbing (uses more yarn).
Optional Knitting Needles: Size US 10/6.0 mm circular needle with a long 40”/100 cm needle.
Notions: Tapestry needle and a large size balloon (deflated, for blocking).
Techniques: Crocheting in the round, single crochet, double crochet, front-post double crochet (optional), and knitting in the round (optional).
