The random appearance of these stripes can be made as bold or subtle as desired. What is sure to stand out is the chevron-based stitch that is not only attractive in it’s gentle shaping but also functional. The chevron peaks provide additional coverage for ears in the hat and wrists when used on the mittens. When you grab these mittens and go, the symmetrical thumb means you can slip them on hands as fast as possible without regard to which one you’ve picked up. The fully gusseted thumb gives the greatest movement possible so your warmth won’t slow you down. This set is sized small through extra-large to ensure not only a proper fit for the intended wearer but also a great fit for your yarn whether you’re shopping for new or using up orphaned bits.

This pattern includes three sidebars to help you make the most of the pattern. Sidebars include “Working with Fewer or More Colors,” “Knitting Stripes in the Round” and “Choosing Yarn Order for Your Stripes.”
