A light, airy one-skein shawl with simple beading and a striking geometric lace pattern, Midwinter Sky is a quick and enjoyable knit. Modern and elegant, this shawl can vary from minimalistic to bright and bold depending on yarn and bead colour choices. The lace pattern provides interesting knitting without being overly challenging. Lace is interspersed with garter wedges and wrong side rows that are simple and speedy to knit. The semi-circular shape is constructed from three wedges, two garter wedges separated by a lace wedge, embellished with a simple diamond edging that forms gentle points. Knit entirely top down and easily adjustable to create different sizes, Midwinter Sky is easy to wear with a beautiful drape.

With a main body that is formed through pattern repeats, the size of the finished item can easily be adjusted by knitting more (or fewer!) pattern repeats. The pattern also includes notes about how much yarn to leave to be able to knit the edging or, alternatively, the edging can be knit in a contrast colour for a different shawl look.

Materials required:

• 400m / 100g fingering weight yarn (yarn used for sample was 50% silk / 50% merino)
• 4.00mm circular needles (80cm recommended)
• 416 size 6/0 seed beads (sample used 23g of Miyuki beads)
• Tool to add beads (e.g. crochet hook, beadle, superfloss)
• 2 stitch markers

Midwinter Sky is suitable for knitters who have done some basic lace knitting and are interested in exploring more lace patterns or trying beaded lace for the first time. Experienced lace knitters will find this an easy knit.
