I have had a skein of beautiful, hand spun wool from Anne Choi at Middle Brook Fiberworks for months now and was just waiting for the perfect pattern to use it. I ended up knitting a very simple ribbed cowl on the fly and finished in a few hours! This yarn blooms beautifully after a bath in wool wash (crucial to ensure the ribbing opens up).

You can use this pattern with any weight of yarn or yardage you may have on hand, adjusting the needle size accordingly.
