Whenever I would go to see a production at the Metropolitan Opera, I was always awestruck by how the chandeliers silently ascend towards the ceiling as a cue to the audience that the opera was about to start. Such drama, even before a single note is sung!

For this Fair Isle hat, I wanted to recreate the impression of these bright lights against a dark background of shadows. By the way, it is perfectly normal to hear the overture of your favorite opera start in your head as you knit this hat.
