Mawqid

A mawqid is a furnace or stove, something meant to heat up a room or outdoor space. These men’s socks are knit with heavier yarn, and intended as slipper or boot socks to keep his feet warmed, likewise. Knit from the toe up, using a Turkish cast-on, and a make one, short row heel, these are a quick knit (and who doesn’t want that when making something for a man?), and a lovely gift for someone else or one’s self.
Materials: approximately 145 (155, 165, 185) yards / 24 (26.5, 29.5, 32) meters bulky yarn
sample knit with Cascade Eco Duo (70% Alpaca, 30% Merino Wool) - (197 yards / meters, 3.53 ounces / 100 grams per skein) in 1701 Zebra, held double, which used twice the yarn listed above
Finished Measurements: 9.5 (10.75, 11.75, 12.75) inches / 24 (26.5, 29.5, 32) cm approximate foot circumference
10 (10.5, 11, 12) inches / 25.5 (27, 28, 30.5) cm in foot length
Skills Required: Using Turkish cast-on, or other, edgeless, cast-on, knitting in the round, knitting stitches together with other stitches.
