Marie Antoinette
Difficulty: medium to advanced. Charts only. Provisional CO used. You will be asked to work return rows sts as they appear (knit the knit sts, purl the purl sts and purl yo’ers). The edge has pattern on both RS and WS rows.
Yarn: 100 g of Seasilk lace 60% seacell, 40% silk, 600 yards (556 m) / 100g (MC). And 50 g of Silken Kydd 70% mohair, 30% silk, 232 yards (212 m) / 25 g (CC). You will be holding yarn double in some sections of the shawl.
Size: Any size. With the stated amount of yarn, you will get a shawl measuring approximately 21,6 inches deep with a wingspan of 71 inches (55 x 180 cm).
Needles: US 4 (3.5 mm) and US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle or the needle you need to get a fabric you like. Gauge is not essential to fit. One spare needle for provisional CO.
Other notions: Stitch markers. Crochet hook or other gizmo for placing beads. If your beads are a little irregular, using a piece of bendable fishing line or the like is a practical solution. Darning needle.
Beads: Seed beads size 6/0 or 8/0 according to taste. About 200 beads are needed, more if you choose to substitute nupps with beads.
Construction: The shawl is worked in one piece from the neck and out. The shawl is bound off using a narrow sideways knitted on edge.
