Mail Clad
This vest was created because I loved the texture of this stitch pattern. The textured front is knit using twisted stitches, and the back is plain stockinette. To reinforce the sides and provide structural stability, slipped stitches and broken ribbing are used. A split hem of broken ribbing adds decoration, and you have the option to use either a single colour all over, or to use a contrast for the hem and cuffs. This vest is the perfect layering piece for cool autumn and spring mornings, followed by sunny days.
This pattern is an intermediate level of difficulty and is well suited for knitters who love texture and repeating motifs.
Designed using 5ply (sport weight) Australian SRS Merino sourced from Great Southern Yarns, and knit on 3.75mm (US 5) circular needles, this vest has 10 sizes, designed to fit women with a 70-167.5cm / 28–66-inch upper bust, with minimal to zero ease, with the hems sitting at high hips.
Design features:
Stockinette, broken ribbing, slipped stitches, twisted stitches, seamed/shaped shoulders, scoop neckline, underarm shaping, sewn bind off.

To fit upper bust of: 70-79, 80-89, 90-99, (100-109, 110-119, 120-129), 130-139, 140-149, 150-159, 160-167.5 cm / 27.50-31, 31.50-35, 35.50-39, (39.25-42.90, 43.25-46.75, 47.25-50.75), 51-54.75, 55-58.50, 59-62.75, 63-66 inches
Important notes:
This pattern has been written and graded against size D (my original). If you want it longer in the torso, you will need more yarn – I recommend an extra skein. If you want it cropped slightly, you will need less.
I recommend using lifelines if you are new to twisted stitches, and to keep careful track of your row within the repeats through use of stitch markers.
