“Maddalene” is part of the collection of patterns inspired by the “Monti Pallidi” (Pale Mountains), a chain of mountains in the Italian Dolomites.
Le Maddalene is a group of mountains in the Dolomites. Unlike the surrounding mountains, the peaks of Le Maddalene are not particularly high, nor are they known for their unique shape. To the contrary, they are crossed by gentle valleys and spacious meadows.

“Maddalene” is worked sideways in one flat piece and them seamed on one side.
The delicate lace motive, with soft points, brings to mind the shape of the Maddalene Mountain tops while the play of contrasting colours brings to mind the summer sunsets that provide the backdrop for these beautiful mountains.

Longer side: 45 (51, 57, 64) cm – 17 3⁄4 (20, 22 1⁄2, 25 1⁄4) inches.
Shorter side: 44 (49, 54, 59) cm – 17 1⁄4 (19 1⁄4, 21 1⁄4, 23 1⁄4) inches.

Yarn and needles:
Rowan TETRA COTTON (distributed by Coats Cucirini): 100% Cotton (130 m – 143 yards / 50 gr – 1.76 ounces); 5 (6, 6, 7) skeins (650, 720, 780, 850 m – 711, 788, 853, 930 yards) colour 001 (Iseo) and 1 skein (130 m - 143 yards) colour 006 (Maggiore).
Needles size 3.5 mm – US 4.
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Other notions:
Tapestry needle.

Gauge:
22 sts x 34 rows = 10 cm – 4” in st st (after blocking).

Le Maddalene sono una gruppo di montagne all’interno delle Dolomiti. Questi monti non conoscono grandi altezze o forme ardite, ma anzi sono solcati da dolci valli ed ampi pascoli.

“Maddalene” è un poncho lavorato longitudinalmente e poi cucito.
Il motivo a pizzo non troppo appuntito ricorda la forma delle vette ed i giochi di colore a contrasto rimandano ai tramonti estivi che capita di ammirare in queste belle montagne.
