Lupine Cap
Even though they begin blooming in early Summer, the California Silver Bush Lupine
continues to thrive well into fall. I see this lovely flower on my many hikes around my
Northern California home. To me, it is a symbol of the seasons. This cap has two stockinette
panels, a chain mail lace panel (shown in the photo) and a moss stitch panel. It would look
lovely in any speckled or even variegated yarn. I dyed this yarn in cochineal with a sprinkling of
logwood. I tied the yarn in various places before going into the dye bath to act as a resist, so
there are natural speckles that occur throughout the piece as well.
