The mittens are worked in the round from the bottom to top using 5 double pointed needles, followed by knitting the thumb using 4 double pointed needles.
The mittens are designed with Valentines day in mind, with a lot of hearts in the pattern and when you put a pair together or one womens and one mens mitten together you create a big heart.
For womens: Begin with needles US 1.5 (2.5 mm) and knit the edge, the Latvian braid and the cuff chart pattern. Then change to needles US 2 (2.75 mm) and knit the body of the mittens chart pattern.
The size is women’s medium but it is easy to change the size using smaller or bigger needles: for women’s small use needles US 1 (2.25 mm) and US 1.5 (2.5 mm) and for women’s large use needles US 2 (2.75 mm) and US 2.5 ( 3 mm).
For mens: Begin with needles US 2 (2.75 mm) and knit the edge and the cuff chart pattern. Then change to needles US 2.5 (3 mm) and knit the body of the mittens chart pattern.
For a pair of mittens you will need 1 skein of main color, 1 skein of contrast color 1, 1 skein of contrast color 2.
