Lovebirds
Lovebirds
Designed by Sue Stratford exclusively for erika knight, a pair of lovebirds to knit and share with your loved one.
Knitted in three colours of soft British blue woo, with an intarsia heart and a knitted envelope tucked under its wing to enclose your little love letter.
materials
erika knight British blue wool 100% pure British Bluefaced Leicester wool, approx. 55m – 25g ball x 3 balls in three shades (MC, CC1, CC2)
5mm/ 1/5in safety eyes or small amount of black yarn
Toy filling
Small button
3mm/ US 2 or 3 knitting needles (double pointed are useful)
Darning needle
Two stitch markers
Pins
for the love letter envelope
erika knight British blue wool 100% pure British Bluefaced Leicester wool, approx. 55m/60yds – 25g ball (I used ‘milk’ and ‘dance’)
Small button
Small piece of card
tension
6 sts measured over 2.5cm/1in using 3mm/US 2 or 3 knitting needles.
note
By changing the yarn colours around it is possible to make three lovebirds from the three yarn colours. If you are knitting this birdy as a gift for a child it would be better to embroider the eyes using black yarn, rather than use safety eyes.
