Losa
In Italian, the “lose” (plural) are the slate roof shingles typical of the northern mountain regions, such as Piedmont and Aosta Valley. The stitch pattern I chose for these mittens reminds me of how the slate shingles are layered on the roofs. So the name “Losa”. The mittens are knitted in the round on double point needles. The stitch pattern is made of small cables (that do not even need a cable needle!) and is worked over the back of the hand. The palm is knitted in rib stitch, as well as the thumb and its gusset. Instructions are available for two versions: mittens and fingerless gloves. Both versions come in three sizes: XS (to fit a child), S/M and

L (to fit an adult).

Losa
Il motivo del punto operato che ho scelto per i guantini “Losa” richiama i disegni che vengono creati dalle lose, lastre di pietra che vengono utilizzate come tegole in alcune
abitazioni tipiche della Val d’Aosta, del Piemonte e di altre regioni del Nord Italia. I guantini sono lavorati in tondo con il gioco di
ferri, con un semplice punto operato costruito con delle piccole trecce che si possono eseguire con o senza l’aiuto del ferro ausiliario. Il pollice è aggiunto con un tassello ed è lavorato a coste, come il palmo della mano. Sono fornite le istruzioni sia per lavorare la versione a muffola sia la versione a guantino senza dita. Le taglie disponibili sono tre: bambino, adulto small-medium e adulto large.
